Teeth
are not separate from the rest of the body but an integral part of it, thus, malocclusion
is but one manifestation of a possible bigger dysfunctional syndrome
and must be viewed and treated under that concept.
These
courses could be backed up by practical study club sessions once a month.
The
purpose of the courses is to teach dentists in a gradual manner how to properly
diagnose and treat orthopaedic/orthodontic cases.
It
will be emphasised the proper collection of records and informed consent both
necessary to escalate tiers and for medico-legal reasons respectively.
Great
importance will be given to early treatment in the mixed dentition and non
extraction technique.
For
the study club sessions doctors are encouraged to bring study casts, lateral
x-rays, cephalometric tracings, photos and OPG, together with relevant clinical
information for analysis, presentation, and evaluation.
TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED
Diagnosis, treatment plan, model
analysis, cephalometric, growth v/s treatment changes, treatment of deciduous,
mixed dentition, early permanent and permanent dentition involving class I, II
and III, open or deep bites, cross bites, impacted canines, and much more. It
will be reviewed the causes of malocclusion, head posture & hyoid bone &
it’s relevance to growth & development, and TMJ disfunction.

Crozat, Bionator, Sagittal, 3D, Frankel III, Rickenator, Reverse head gear (Twin
block, Pendulum, William and Magill, CD distaliser). Fixed: Straight wire, Utility
arches, Viazis, Jusper Jumper.
